Thank you for giving me the privilege of representing you on Regional Council since first elected as District 16 Councillor (Prince’s Lodge - Clayton Park West) in November 2003 municipal by-election. As a result of our community’s huge growth, in October 2004 municipal elections, there were significant district boundary changes. District 16 was renamed Rockingham-Wentworth, and I was re-elected by acclamation. An honour and privilege I’ve never taken lightly.
And we continue to see tremendous growth and development. We are fortunate to be blessed with such a sense of community - a mix of older and well-established neighbourhoods with newer development, many new residents, but also long-time residents, residents with diverse ethnic backgrounds, great school and church communities, residents who care about their neighbour, their community...our community.
People often ask me how I like my job. I will be honest, it has been an extremely busy five years on Council, but what an incredible experience. Frustrating at times, challenging, but if anything, I am even more passionate about our community, and our municipality, and excited about our future. I see so much potential in our city and our people. Take what we have, embrace who we are, what we have to offer, seize opportunities that support a vision that will enable us to be the most vibrant and liveable city in Canada. All the while, never losing sight of our history, and our sense of community. That’s how much I love my job. It isn’t one. It is a passion and a commitment to do what I can to make our city the best place to live, work and play.
I look forward for the opportunity to continue to serve you.
Respectfully yours,
Debbie
